Second Wedding Photographer
I had the privilege of being the 2nd Wedding Photographer for a 14 hour Sikh Derby Wedding followed by a Hindu Nottingham Wedding. The primary wedding photographer was Gary Phillip of oneLove Photography. A second Wedding Photographer is there to offer support and assistance to the primary photographer, as well as being able to take photos of the same event from a different angle/position.
There are also times, during a wedding, when the primary wedding photographer cannot be in 2 places at once. Examples of this would be when the groom and bride are getting prepared at exactly the same time, or when you wish to take photos of the wedding service from both the front and back of the church/venue and you can’t easily move between the 2 positions because the service is taking place.
Singh Sabha Gurdwara Temple
The groom was Sikh and the bride was Hindu so they were having both a Sikh and Hindu ceremony. The day started at 8.30am at the Singh Sabha Gurdwara Temple in Normanton, Derby. Here the groom was met by family and friends. After prayers everyone was given breakfast, before entering the Temple for the wedding. The ceremony took about an hour then all the guests queued to congratulate the couple.
Missing Shoes
Within the Sikh temple men need to cover their hair, and shoes need to be removed. On leaving the temple it is tradition for the bride’s family/friends to hide the groom’s shoes. Before he can leave and take his bride with him he needs to get his shoes back. This usually requires various searching, bartering and paying the bride’s side money, for the shoes return.
Leaving in Wedding Car
Once the shoes were returned the bride and groom set off in their wedding car from their Derby Wedding to the next stage of their day, their Hindu wedding in Nottinghamshire at The Eastwood Hall Hotel. This is all detailed on another page.
