Duffield, Derbyshire Wedding

Wet Derbyshire

Being a wedding photographer you don’t want rain. Yet, April 2012 has been the wettest April on record in the UK. Derbyshire, with it’s green valleys, is no stranger to the rain. So doing wedding photography here occasionally has its pitfalls. When I turned up an hour prior to the ceremony I was hopeful for a sunny afternoon. As I turned off my car ignition the clouds opened with terrential rain! But, I had a job to do. I got a photograph of the church and headed to the church for shelter. It then stopped raining and the guests started to arrive.

Duffield Wedding

Meg and Tom got married in April 2012. The wettest April ever – since records began. Fortunately, they had decided to pick a day which had a 20% chance of rain – and they timed it perfectly! The wedding took place at Saint Alkmund’s Parish – a lovely little church in Duffield, Derbyshire that sits on the banks of the River Derwent.

The wedding took place in the afternoon and Meg’s family (and priest) had come all the way over from America to be there. Everyone had a wonderful time and there was quite a bit of running involved!

Below are a selection of photographs from the day.

If you are planning on getting married in Duffield or Derbyshire I’d love to hear from you.
